Birthday Parties and Embarrassment

Today has been a great day. When we woke up we decided to have a very bad for us breakfast of donuts. Then we just played and got ready before it was time to leave for Jack's 1st birthday party. We had a great time. Jack had a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party and Kimberly (Jack's mom) did such a good job decorating and preparing for the party. Everything was so neat looking. My favorite part was the goody bags. They were awesome. You know you get a good goody bag when part of a present you got the birthday boy is in your goody bag.... or maybe that just means I'm a bad gift giver lol. I'm pretty sure Jack loved his gift from Liam though... he did roll off with his Mickey's clubhouse bucket and not open his last two gifts haha.
One thing I realized at the party was how awkward our children can make life sometimes. What I mean by this is for example if you baby gets hit, your instinct is to tell the other kid NO, but then you don't want to upset them or offend the other parent so you are in an awkward situation trying to decide what to do. The same applies to your own child, if your own baby hits or takes a toy away from another kid, you will hopefully get on to them, but then you feel bad for the other baby and hope that their parent is not mad at you. It is even worse when your baby is only one like Liam and isn't even old enough to completely realize what he is doing wrong/why he was done wrong. I know it happens to every mother, but it still doesn't make you feel good when it happens. I think the only solution is to talk with your spouse and decide how your child should be punished if they do not share, or if they hit, and stick to your guns. Also, I think that you as a parent have to decide that if another baby does this to your own child, you need to just remove your child from the situation and not let yourself get upset or defensive. Give me some feedback ladies... what do you do if your baby puts you in this situation.  By the way, no one got mad at this party lol. Liam did hit like two times though and there were typical little kids issues and it just prompted me to write about it in the blog. Oh the joys of your children embarrassing you!
Now we are leaving for a family vacation with my side of the family to Florida tomorrow so I am going to get off here and make sure that everything is packed/do more homework.
Mommy On,
