Ornaments

So as you can see from yesterday I got our Christmas card for 2012 designed and ordered last night YAY! Ben and me also put up the Christmas tree (finally) yesterday!

We had a few broken and outdated ornaments though so after a long school meeting Liam and me went ot Hobby Lobby to restock some of our ornaments.

I am in love with the new additions. On top of that Liam and me Finally got to pick up his pottery. It was so neat, because when we walked in to get it they had our plate that Liam did on DISPLAY. She was like "no don't take it.... we have had so many people compliment it and make a replica of it." It made us feel special. She begrudgingly did let us leave with it -haha and we picked up Ben's ornament Liam made too.

Here is our awesome plate:
Amazing... we know!

A little background information; when Ben and me got married we started a tradition to get ornaments for each other every year. When Liam was born we carried it on to him also. Here are Ben and Liam's ornaments for 2012:

Liam painted his daddy's all by himself!

I just love decorating for Christmas and doing it with Liam is so much fun. I just love making new memories with him! I need to get on to more decorating and homework.

Bibles and Boots

I will not have pictures posted in this blog, but we crafted today! YAY. Liam made a turkey craft at church today, and then we made a turkey hand-print at home! I will try to post pictures of them tomorrow.
Anyways, after church we went to Earl's Boots because Ben's beloved boots are FALLING apart. He has been searching for a new pair for months, and felt none were as good as the one's he has, but today he found a pair, thank the Lord. Happy feet will make for a happier husband: )

While we were there we looked at the toddler boots too. As everyone knows Liam has wore boots from the week he was born. Well after he grew out of his last $55 pair, we decided to wait a while to buy another pair, and he has been wearing some fake leather black one's that we got from consignment. Well the sells lady convinced us to try a pair on him and we were doomed to buy them after that. He squealed the whole time she was putting them on him and then I kid you not he ran up to a little girl named Bella who was shopping in the store for a pair of pink or red boots and stuck his foot out so she could see the boots he was wearing and then hugged her leg (she was like six or so). It was the cutest thing ever and we just could not leave without buying those boots for our precious little boy. He loves him some boots and wore them out of the store. Were calling them an early Christmas present lol.

After the boot store we went to get Liam his very own toddler Bible. He has an awesome camo Bible from his Papa and we cannot wait to use it, but he is not quite old enough for it yet. We were a little overwhelmed by the vast amount of toddler Bibles and really didn't know where to start. We looked and read over several and came down to three. One of the three was like my sisters first Bible and I remember her having it so we almost got it because I already knew it was a good one, but we decided to be daring and got the"Jesus Calling" Bible Storybook. The illustrations in it are really vivid and fun and we like the way she lays out the stories and it gives the like NKJV verse and then a simplified verse underneath it. I think we are really gonna like it. Liam sure seems to like it so far.

Updates

So blog reading world this Mommy has had her hardest semester EVER, but despite that I really do feel like I have gotten some things in order. I have learned to say no ( kind of lol), I have been using less media (meaning less blogging, but oh well), and I have been working on thinking more highly of myself to boost my self esteem. It is all still a work in progress, but once the semester is over I plan on setting down with Ben and making up a master plan of our lives. The things we want and don't want, set a month date time that doesn't include little man, allow alone time for each other to work on a hobby, an enforced cleaning schedule and redefine our budget. Things are about to be crazy organized in the Comer household.

One thing I have really cherished lately is the extra time I can spend with Liam when I don't have my face shoved in my phone or laptop, or iPad. That little boy is the best thing in my life and he deserves my time! I have also shed five more pounds in the past month or so, which allows for easier play time too!

I'm happy.... and that is what living life is about. There are things I am always going to want to do like sew, scrap, read, or write; but God, Liam and Ben have to come first or I will be miserable.

I have really slacked on Liam's alphabet book, but we plan on trying to get back on the bandwagon and get that thing completed!

This is a pretty random blog, but I thought I would fill you in on what's been going on in the Comer house.... and maybe something more exciting can be typed up soon!

Calling on God!

This has been a very hard two weeks for my home community. There have been several precious people take their lives and left several grieving families and friends. Suicide is so hard to understand for me, but really only God knows how those people felt, because usually if a person is contemplating suicide then they are not talking to people at all, let alone telling their dark thoughts.

The only thing we can do is pray without ceasing, the Bible says, " For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20"

Pray Metropolis, because God Will be listening. The only other thing you can do is act like Christians. Be nice to people, listen and don't always be the one who has to talk, take notice when you see someone off on their own, or someone who seems to be having a bad time lately. Talk to people and ask them if they are doing ok. You will be able to tell if they aren't.

I am reading a book by Joyce Meyer right now called "Approval Addiction," and so far it is about understanding that you are only human and not perfect. Also, that no matter what you want to believe, you ARE good enough to be God's child, and that it does not matter what others say or think about you.

Sweet Children of God please realize that the Bible says, " What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] Romans 8:31. I do not condone bullying at all... it NEEDS to stop and schools MUST make this happen, but please realize that their will always be mean people in this world... the devil is one of them, but what they say and think does not matter. Keep your focus on God and your church family, if nothing else, and you will be ok.

Liam is not old enough to even understand any of this right now, but when he is I pray that he grasps this knowledge and holds onto it for dear life. This knowledge could be the only thing that saves your life.

Joyce's book also says, "Knowing you are in Christ will help you be confident, and as a result others will be drawn to you. People feel confident when they are with other confident people." Christians need to show their confidence and hold onto it, because things will not be well with you if you let the devil steal your confidence.

God please be with the Wolfe family, the Dennis/Bradford family, the Keipp family, and anyone else who is hurting right now. Be with Metropolis and bring the community closer together. Be with anyone who is contemplating terrible thoughts and send people in their paths to help them get through the bad thoughts and turn to you. God wrap your arms around your people tonight. Amen

Sorry for the melodrama tonight, but I felt like I needed to say this!

Pictures, Painting, and Thoughts.

1. This has been a super busy, but fun weekend and start of the week. Ben and I went on the most fancy date we've ever been on (which was amazing),  we got to dance live to our wedding song, I had my first night away from Liam, we went to the Encampment with Liam dressed as a buffalo Indian, and I took fall pictures of Liam.

2. I just love our family pumpkins this year!

3. I am really glad that I decided to not use technology while Liam is awake. I am not perfect, and I miss it lol, but I have been doing pretty good and got to have so much more quality time with Liam the past week.

4. I am reading a book called "Nurture" by. Lisa Bevere and it is changing my life! It is so good and I highly recommend all Christian women read it.

5. I LOVE to write, anyone who knows me knows this, and I NEVER get to write personal stuff anymore and I miss it. I have come to terms with the fact that writing can happen anytime, and today with Liam is more important, because before I know it he will be grown and out on his own; however, I still miss writing. That is my confession. I hope to get a little extra time soon though, because I have some great things going around in my brain to write about, and I have some stuff I really want to write for Liam too! I have to remember that everything will be much easier when I am DONE with school which consumes my life.

6. I LOVE taking pictures. I may not be a professional and I don't have any recollection with God that I am suppose to be any time soon (very possibly later in life though), but for now it is my hobby and I have so much joy when I am behind my Nikon. I recently did some pictures for my bestie as a birthday present  to her and I am so thrilled with the final products. Here are a few:

Changes

I've been so busy, school is so hard this semester, I don't know what me time is anymore blah, blah, blah. Ok now lets get to what I want to say tonight. I have really been trying to evaluate myself the past month and I have figured some things out and still have an open heart and mind to learn more. One thing that Ben and I have been realizing lately, is you HAVE to communicate and do it well to have a good relationship. Also, no one likes to argue, but if it's what you have to do to get through some stuff then do it, but correct the problems so arguments don't keep having to happen.

Another thing is that you have to date even when your married and especially after you have kids. Yes, it is much harder to date once your become parents, but make it work. It sucks to spend and extra $20-50 on a babysitter (usually more then the total cost of your date), and it's really hard to find one when you live 2 hours away from family and know virtually anyone where you live anymore, but still make it work.

We haven't been doing this, but things are changing in this Comer household. Ben surprised me yesterday by telling me that he is gonna take me to a Rascal Flatts concert on Friday and out to eat at a restaurant with valet parking and reservations (the restaurant is a surprise location though). I am so stoked. He made plans for Little Liam to spend the night with my parents and everything. I am sad because it will be my first night away from Liam since he was born, but we NEED this date.

Today has been such a good day knowing I have a date this weekend. I have went out and bought the perfect outfit, and had my eyebrows done and I am just glowing with excitement. It's the little things in life that matter the most.

Another thing that I have learned is that reading my Bible and having God in my life is not just something to put on my to-do list.... it is a necessity for living. I love to read and rarely do anymore unless it is for school, but how dare me ever read a book if I haven't read my Bible that day. Also, it's ok to do it during Liam and Mommy time, because he needs to hear the Word too!

The last major thing I have learned is that it is to easy to get wrapped up in social media and email and blog reading and avoid your family. I am going to do my very best to start only using social media when Liam is asleep! When he is awake and we are together it is our time and I have no business focusing on anything other then him and being the BEST mom I can be to him.

One last thing is I made the decision to commit to getting a mentor on Sunday to help me and mentor me during my walk with God. I still have to call her tomorrow to set up our phone chats and stuff, but I am excited for this next step in my life.

P.S. I did not know Lane Wolfe, but my heart aches for his family and friends tonight  Let's have a moment of silence for then and keep them in our prayers!

Farms, Special Lunch Sundays, and Book Fairs.

Once again I am playing super mommy this week. Already today I have observed in a middle school, went to an eye exam, volunteered at Liam's daycare's bookfair, had dinner, read books, and am fixing to start on my homework after Liam goes to bed in a bit. I will be observing two more times this week and volunteering at the book fair one more time so I am swamped, but I love every second of it (except the homework part lol).
Yesterday was a blast and has made today really hard to get back into the swing of things. We went to the Riverview Mounds Century Farm in Clarksville, TN and it was a blast. We kind of felt like we were cheating on the Travis farm, but really we just played here and got only one big pumpkin and a few small ones... were saving the good stuff for the Travis Farm in Metropolis, IL.
Anyway, there were so many fun things to do like a petting zoo, slide, tot play area, barrel ride, hayride, tire jungle, and pony rides just to name a few things. Liam had a blast and honestly Ben and I did too! It was a great time. Here are some super cute pictures:
 Petting the goats.
Running around... he is the CUTEST!
 Feeding the goats.
 Farm Family!
 Mommy and Son!
 Tractor time!
He was so concerned with what the driver was doing lol and of course steering the whole time.

For on the way to the farm I made Ben and Liam an extra special lunch:
It may not be perfect, but I don't think it's terrible. I used bread for phenias' face and a marshmallow cut in half for the eyes with raisins in the centers. I used a piece of marshmallow for the mouth and three reeses chips. Then I used pieces of cheese for his shirt and carrots cut in half for the hair. For Perry I used a blue fruit roll up for the body, pieces of marshmallows with raisins in the middle for the eyes, and cheese for the beak. I filled with grapes and oranges! They LOVED it. I want to make Sundays "cute lunch" days so lets hope I keep it up!

Last picture is of the books bubs got tonight at the book fair:
He choose Silent Night and Apples A to Z. We already read them and are very happy with the decisions he made : ) Yay for a new fall book ! (and a Christmas one haha).

Kanati!

I know, I know I have been MIA the past few days. Lets just say I have been having kind of a rough time lately, but I know it's because I have let school overtake and not made time for myself or for GOD. This IS changing TODAY! Yes, school is important, but not more important then being sane or than God. So that being said I will fill you in a little on the past few days.

Ben saw this puppy the other day and really fell in love with it. He debated within himself  A LOT about whether or not he wanted to get it and I remained a mutual party and didn't give my opinion on the matter.... well he just couldn't get her off his mind so meet Kanati.... pronounced Can-Not- A (like the long letter A):

Kanati! Our little Husky!
(she was in the shade here so it isn't the best picture ever)

Playing!

Liam was upset and Kanati was licking his tears.

Kanati is such a lovable dog, but I am not looking forward to warding off the chewing habit... huh. This poor baby might as well be considered a rescue though because when we got her she was crawling with fleas. We knew it was bad, but had no idea how bad. We gave her a flea bath as soon as we got home and I bet she had 200 fleas on her... no joke. We had to use our fingernails and tweezers to get them off because they were just everywhere. I was crying, and at times when we hit a huge patch or two that were just a huge moving giant blob of fleas, I was gagging about to throw up. It was so terrible, but luckily she is fine now and will live in a very loving home. Ben is just so in love with this dog.

As I'm sure you know introducing a new member into the family takes time so that has kept me really busy, along with a huge test that I really think that I may have FAILED, because it was the hardest test I have EVER taken. I also spent a whole day almost trying to find fall books for Liam and it was an epic fail. We did get one book, but could not find any that I really liked. Even the stores were out. The biggest downside to living in a big town.... December and our little town cannot get here soon enough!

I am determined to get things right in my life again so any encouragement or scriptures to look up are welcomed! This to shall past. I know it's because I just let school rule my life instead of God, but I'm thankful that I recognized it and am getting back on track. School is easier when you have God on your side: )

p.s. Hannah is not being neglected she got a flea treatment and therefore can't have a bath for a few days and her hair needs cut bad.... I didn't want to post embarrassing pictures of her lol.

Challenges and Peay Pride!

Today was Family Day at APSU! I had to go to get some quotes for the paper, so I decided to take Liam and Ben along too, and I am so glad. I didn't even know there was a such thing as Family Day until I was assigned the story... and it is so much fun. Liam got to stuff a cheetah and put an APSU shirt on it, play on a bouncy things, take pictures with the school mascot the "Governor" for a photo strip with mommy, make a mega phone, and have an awesome picture drawn of him, and he got a cowbell for the game, and a fishing balloon!  The carnival was so much fun.

After the carnival Liam and me came home and made supper and ate. Then we left for the football game. We got there an hour early because I wanted to make sure we could get a decent parking spot! Well let's just say that I'm not a perfect mommy (even though I try to be) and Liam tested me for only the second time in his life. After an hour and fifteen minutes he was throwing a blood curtailing fit because I would not let him run around. Finally I caved and let him walk while I walked with him and he ended up falling on the concrete. I felt like the worst mom ever. Low and behold we ended up just leaving the game at the end of the first quarter : ( The minute he got in his car seat he fell asleep. I hated being tested, but I'm glad I put his needs and safety of going home over my want to watch the football game! I just hope we don't have to many trying moments like that one! Liam did have a lot of fun the first hour before the game started though lol. He was dancing, and yelling through his mega phone, and shaking his cowbell like crazy.

Here are some adorable pics from today:

It was a good day, until the challenging moment at the end, but now Little Liam is sleeping and I am about to start writing my story and then studying for a British Literature class.
